A LUSH Christmas

lush christmas

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a selection of LUSH bath products. Everyone knows it, LUSH products smell amazing! There is something exciting about stepping into a hot bath that is green, purple or blue with added glitter! I have always been a bath person, my favourite way to relax is lying in the bath with some candles and reading a book. In fact, I enjoy it so much I usually resemble a raisin when I eventually have to come out because the bath water has gone cold.

Bon Voyage!

Hello everyone!

I have some SUPER exciting news. So I have not blogged in AGES even though I said I would do a lot more over the Summer, but firstly I got myself a job working in a bar and I have been trying to work as many hours as possible and to be honest I just haven't felt like I wanted to post anything recently! However I am back!

Freedom, finally!

Hello everyone!

I am happy to say I have finished my second year at University! I also found out that I will be spending my year abroad in Valencia!!! My two years at Sheffield have been amazing and I am so sad to say bye to so many friends who won't be here when I come back! I am incredibly excited to live in Spain though! Now that I have finished I can get back to blogging!! Recently my blog has turned into more of a diary because I didn't have time to do anything else really, but I plan to go back to doing posts about new makeup etc. that I have bought! :)

Languages ball!

Hi everyone!!

So exam season is well on its way and I am very stressed! I have finally finished my three essays and now onto revision for a lovely 3 hour Spanish grammar exam and a Spanish literature exam. However, I have of course managed to make time for some fun! On the 16th of May it was the School of Languages and Culture Ball and a few of us decided to go.

This is what revision does. P.S Yes that is Sellotape on my Mac. I may have accidentally stood on it at Christmas, it broke my heart. :(

London!

Hello everyone!

I am back from London! I had the best time and it was so nice to see my cousins. We had a busy few days which involved a LOT of shopping which I will do a post about soon to show you what I bought! I also went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour which was one of the BEST DAYS EVER. It was so cool seeing all the sets and props and the owl actors! I also got to try butterbeer and it tastes soooo good!! The day after that we went for a little wander into Hammersmith and found a pub by the river and had pimms (YAY SUMMER!?). It was lovely and sunny! We then went to a Mexican restaurant called Wahaca at Westfields and had looooads of nice food and cocktails!

Prague!

Hello everyoneeee,

I AM HOME! I'm so tired but I wanted to do a blog post because tomorrow I'm off to Leeds/London. Prague was sooooo amazing! It's such a beautiful city and I had such a good time. I visited various places, The Charles Bridge, the old square, the Palace, the Wallenstein Gardens (where there was an albino peacock!!! Also I never knew that peacocks made a noise, but now I do ha). Below are a few pictures from my few days there :) The weather was all over the place so on the photo below it was actually quite hot but then when the sun went in it was cold so yeah, I don't know why I'm trying to justify my coat wearing but oh well! Hope everyone is having a fabulous Easter break!

Wearing Zara skirt, Ebay top, New Look coat, and Asos marketplace bag
I'm really sorry that my eyes are so small but it was very sunny!!!

Oooooo so arty...

When I come back from London I shall be doing posts on things I have bought as I have a few things from duty free and I am sure I will manage to buy something in London (What student budget!?)

Busy busy busy

Hi lovelies!

I am home from Uni! YAY! It was amazing sleeping in my bed, I forgot how comfy it was! I won't be posting for a while because tomorrow I am going Prague with my family for my mum's 50th birthday! EXCITING stuff because I have never been and our holidays are usually just to Spain, which I am not complaining about, but I am excited to go somewhere different! So I am going there for 5 days and then I come home for one day to have a meal with the whole fam from Leeds for mum's birthday too. THEN I go to Leeds with my cousin for a few nights and then get the train with her down to London to see my other cousin. I will be back home on the 17th! Sooooo I will probably be quiet for a while but will have lots of things to share when I get back I hope! ALTHOUGH I DID LEAVE MY CAMERA AT UNI... I knew I had forgotten something! :(

I will share with you a little thing I bought yesterday. My makeup collection is becoming too big for my makeup bag (below is only a selection!)....

...soooooo I bought a new one! It was only £4 from Primark and it's pretty big and it's pretty! It is actually a wash bag but oh well!

So I will write again after my busy few weeks!

Oh, I also forgot to mention I have changed the name of my blog! I wanted something with my name in and decided on 'Keep up with Katie'. Bloglovin were very quick to change my URL on the website so that was great!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

Hi everyone!

Everyone get yourself to Boots/Superdrug ASAP because there is a 3 for 2 on Revlon! I went in to Superdrug to get some shampoo and conditioner and absolutely nothing else but I couldn't walk past the makeup aisle without having a LITTLE look... and then I saw the offer and then well... oops. I've seen various blog posts about these and I really wanted to try them because they come in such nice colours and I have never used lip colour than comes in this form!  I bought them in 240 'Striking', 245 'Audacious' and 205 'Elusive'. First of all these smell soooooooo nice. In fact after I put them on my hand for the photo below I couldn't stop smelling my hand. They smell of peppermint and peppermint smells so good. Yum. So before I've even actually applied the balm it's already doing well! I really how easy it is to apply the lip balms! I read other reviews awhile ago and people have said that the lighter colours seem to emphasise dry patches on the lips but I haven't worn them enough yet to decide whether I agree! My favourite is actually 205 which is surprising because I don't usually like the pinky colours as much as brighter ones but it's just lovely to wear during the day :). I will probably give 240 a go when I go on a night out on Monday! The bottom photo doesn't give enough justice as to how pigmented the colours are! :(

Overall I really like the packaging, the ease of application, the pigmentation AND the smell so I really want to buy some more. Maybe I will have to whilst the offer is still on!?

Have you tried the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms? Which colours are your favourite?

Topshop Nails & Glow

Helloooooo everyone!

I went to Meadowhall yesterday and bought my brothers birthday presents and some mother's day things! I also bought a few things for myself because going to a shopping centre and not buying pretty things would just be a waste hehe. I bought a few clothes but I'm not really sure how to show them because my pictures all looked rubbish. However I will show a few of the little things I bought from Topshop. Basically EVERYONE is going on about pastel colours and I saw these two nail varnishes in Topshop.

The one on the left is called 'Tidal' and the one on the right is called 'Exposed'. I just think that they are soooooo pretty and makes me just want it to be sunny and summery NOW. I don't know how two nail varnish colours can make me that excited for sun and Summer BUT THEY DO!!!!

I tried the blue one and think it is pretty. I have to apologise for my nails, I'm so so so so bad at biting the skin around them :( I know that its HORRIBLE but I do it when I'm stressed. Anyone have any tips to completely stop doing it?

I also bought the Glow pot in 'Polished'. It is also really pretty hehe. I apply to my cheekbones and under the brow. I feel like these three items are all very 'fresh' if you know what I mean :) They are just pretty (did I mention that!?) and spring like and ahhhh. Happy Katie.

ALSO I really love Topshops makeup packaging. It's so simple but I just love it!

Do you use any Topshop makeup? What is your favourite?

Want Need list

Hi everyone!

So today I am managing to avoid Uni work and browse online shops instead. I haven't bought myself any clothing in AGES. I've been trying to save money from my job so I can do things in Summer. However it is my friends 20th birthday coming up and we are going to go out (I haven't been out in Sheffield in a long time!) So last night we were all sat downstairs watching Sports Relief being REALLY anti social with our laptops and deciding what new outfits we could buy.... I found these things which I now REALLY want. I don't think I can really justify buying the shoes right now but I think I'm going to buy the top and skirt, but I'm going to go to Meadowhall and try them on first!

1) Skinny Rib Crop Tee from Topshop £8 - They have these in SO many colours, I think I might get the white one and pale blue one too because they are cheap and so pretty I can't not really... right?

2) Faux Leather Mini Skirt with a Zip from Zara £25.99 - This is also in pale blue (loving pale blue right now!!!) and black but I really like this colour and think it goes nice with the shoes too!

3) LOTTIE Mid Height Heels from Topshop £52 - AHHH I love theseeeeeee... it says they are mid heel but I don't actually know how high they are, I will check in the shop because I don't wear heels if they are SUPER high because I am already SUPER tall! But every girl has the right to wear heels!!!!

What do you think?

My weekend

Hi guys!

I'm doing a bit of a different post today because I am currently trying not to spend money on new makeup etc. until I get paid/my student loan comes in! So I thought I would just tell you about my weekend. This weekend my boyfriend came to Sheffield from Leeds and we went out for a lovely burger at The Harley. They have some craaaazy burgers and they are so good! We then went to Tamper Coffee where I had never been before and had a drink and a cake. I LOVED it, it was so so cute in there, look at the little spoon I got with my hot chocolate!

The Harley

Tamper Coffee

So cuteeeeee

It was also my boyfriends birthday a couple of weeks ago but we hadn't been able to do anything because he was busy with his show (He's good at acting and singing but I'm just NOT ha!). So I got him a cake and we had a mini pretend birthday! :)

I've also started doing #100happydays on Instagram if you want to have a look! You basically have to take a photo each day with something that makes you happy. I'm really really reaaaally bad at keeping at doing something but I'm going to try with this because apparently you get a free book at the end which is really cuteee! Also I think it's quite nice realising the little things that make you happy each day! You can do it on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, whatever! Just click here http://100happydays.com :)

I hope you don't mind me doing a post like this! I quite enjoy sharing what I've been up to!

Free Smashbox Primer!

Hi everyone!

I got a lovely little surprise in the post the other day. Apparently I am a winner! I don't remember entering anything but I must have done haha! Anyway I got a small sample of the Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control. I have the MAC Prep and Prime which I use (but only on nights out or special occassions because I'm a student and all that so need to save it) but I was excited to try this! Especially because I do suffer from horrible blemishes sometimes. It said that this primer was supposed to treat breakouts, provide hydration (oil-free!) and keep skin clearer over time. I've only used it a couple of times so I will have to decide in a few weeks whether my skin is actually clearer or not. However I do like the feel of this product, I think I prefer it to the feel of MAC which feels a bit heavier. This has a runnier consistency but goes nicely on the skin. I do find that it keeps my makeup on better, apart from on my nose which is annoying! (Might be partly to do with the fact that I have a cold and keep needing to blow my nose though!). Overall the primer provides a smooth surface to put your foundation on and I'm going to keep using it to see if it improves my skin as well!

The Liebster Awards

I wasn't really sure what the Libester Awards were but the concept sounds really cool. It's an award for bloggers with 200 followers or under. A blogger nominates 11 bloggers who nominates another 11 bloggers and so on...

It's a fun way to get to know other bloggers and to also discover new bloggers!

I was nominated by Tasmin Lily D, so a massive THANK YOU to her! She asked the following questions:

1. Who is your style inspiration?

I can't choose one person for this because I think so many people have amazing style. I love Alexa Chung's style. She has a very edgy style that can be really lovely and feminine or more of a simple look. I'm pretty into crazy shirts and really wish we had 90's fashion back, it was so fun!

2. What is your favourite film?

I always find questions like this so hard! Harry Potter is definitely a favourite film because I was obsessed with it for so long (I say obsessed in past tense, but that's a lie). I think it's because I was at the age where I grew up with Harry Potter so it will always e a favourite. My other favourite film is The Shawshank Redemption jus because it's a great film! Oh and a good film I've seen recently was The Wolf of Wall Street!

3. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you'd buy?

This is  difficult one. Well, I say that but I'd probably get really excited and take all my friends out for food and drinks! Maybe loads of nice clothes too. And makeup.

4. Where is your favourite place you've visited?

Definitely the village where Van Gogh lived in Paris, it was so beautiful and really cool to see the places where he gained his inspiration for his paintings.

5. What's your favourite fashion era? (by decade)

I would love to go back to every fashion era and see which I liked the best but right now I love the 90's! Such a 90's kid. Though I do think it would be cool to go to a party in the 20's like in Gatsby though!

6. What meal could you eat for the rest of your life?

Anything with BBQ chicken. I love BBQ chicken. Then a lemon dessert. That's me happy!

7. Whats your wardrobe essential?

My Levi Denim Jacket. It's so easy to wear with anything and I love it

8. What beauty product can you not leave the house without?

My lip balm! I really hate having dry lips. I'm loving the Maybelline Baby Lips at the moment. I have the cherry one and it smells so good!

9. Who is your favourite singer/band?

BASTILLE. I have loved them for so long and it's been so great to see them grow! I've been to see them 4 times and they are amazing at live performances. It's so weird because when I first saw them it was at a little bar where they mingled with the crowd during the support acts and now they're playing at the O2 arenas! It's cool to see them in such different environments though.

10. Describe yourself in three words.

Fun, weird but sometimes a little shy! Weird in a good way I think. I mean as in I don't like to be serious all the time I like it when you can just be weird and crazy with your friends. I can be shy around new people, especially in bigger groups. I wish I didn't but I have become more confident over the years!

11. What would you like to achieve this year?

It's my second year at uni before I go away for my year abroad in September  So I'm determined to make it a really great year and do as much as I can with my family and friends before I go. It makes me so sad that a lot of my friends won't be here when I get back!!! I'd also like to pass my driving test! I really need to get round to that... Oh, and I also joined the gym today so I'd like to achieve a body like BeyoncĂ©. haha!

And here are my questions:

1) Which three beauty products could you not live without?
2) What is the best book you have read?
3) What inspired you to start blogging?
4) Do you prefer gold or silver jewellery?
5) Dress or jeans?
6) Do you prefer Spring/Summer clothes or Autumn/Winter clothes?
7) Favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe?
8) If you could speak another language, which language would you like it to be?
9) If you could, would you travel to the future or the past?
10) Where is the furthest place you have travelled?
11) What is your favourite film?

Wishlist!

Hi everyone! Due to my fabulous procrastination skills during my exam period I have managed to add a horrendous amount of things to my wished lists/saved items. Oh well! these are a few of my favourites...

1) Teddy fur Pea Coat £79.00 Topshop - Ok I have wanted this for AGES and then my housemate came back from Christmas with it in the cream colour and I just want to hug her ALL the time. It is so so soft! I wasn't sure if I could justify getting another coat though (but I probably will when I realise it's in last chance to buy in a moment of panic...)

2) Office Extravanganza Loafer £65.00 Office - O m g how gorgeous are these patent leather shoes!? I think they'd look so cute with the current monochrome gingham trend (number 13!)

3) Topshop Multicolour Glitter Ankle Socks £3.50 - I can't seem to find these on the website now! :( They still have other colours though like these blue ones. I think these would look rather snazzy with some cut out boots.

4) ASOS Sleeveless Cardigan in Fluffy Fabric £20.00 ASOS (sale) - I really want a sleeveless cardigan/gillet and I really liked this colour! It's in the sale and there is currently as 20% off Asos for students... shall I?

5) Urbancode Patent Leather Mini Skirt £27.50  (Reduced from £110.00!?!?!?) ASOS - Loving the PVC/patent look and this is a beautiful bargain!!

6) ASOS Oval Plait Hoops Earrings £8.00 ASOS - I love hoops right now!

7) LORD & TAYLOR 18K Gold Over Sterling Silver Knot Ring  £24.00 LORD & TAYLOR - I think this is so cute! It's really simple but I love it. You can get cheaper versions on websites like Etsy but sometimes I think it's nice to have some more expensive jewellery!

8) Mesh Hair Scrunchie £2.35 Soccer - You may have read my earlier post about scrunchies and I really like this yellow colour!

9) BENEFIT Watts Up Soft Focus Face Highlighter £24.50 House of Fraser - I really want to try this highlighter It looks so pretty and I love a bit of shimmer!

10) Motel Rucksack in Silver Iridescent £30.00 Motel Rocks - How AMAZING is this!!! I'm having a bit of a love affair with this trend!

11) ESSIE Matte About You Matte Finisher £11.95 Selfridges - Sooooo i wasn't TOO impressed with how little time the matte effect lasted on the Topshop Matte Nails Polish so I really want to try this matte top coat and spend a little bit more on the product because I think it will be worth the extra money if it works!

12) M.A.C Viva Glam Lipstick £15.00 Debenhams - I still do not own a MAC lipstick!!!! I need to buy one A.S.A.P at least so I can decide for myself if they're as fabulous as they're meant to be!

13) Tall Brush Gingham Aline Skirt £36.00 Topshop - Ahhh I love it when they have something I like in the tall section - particularly when it's a skirt or a dress because otherwise they're just not long enough! I love this skirt! I did try it on but not in tall and they didn't have it in tall so I could't get it :(

These are a few of my favourite things

Hello lovely people! I am back at Uni and currently in the middle of a very long exam period (finishing the 7th of Feb!) so my posts won't be very frequent. However, I wanted to quickly share of few of my favourite things.

1) Tangle Teezer Detangling Brush £10.20 - I loveee my Tangle Teezer. It just works so well well my hair is knotty and doesn't hurt. I would recommend this to everyone! Definitely worth the price. I bought mine from ASOS but you can get them from other places too. I chose the pink and blue one and you can get them in lots of other colours too!

2) Soap & Glory Travel Size Body Butter £2.50 - I also have this in the bigger version but I use this one as a hand cream because it is a perfect size to carry around. It makes my hands super soft and it's Soap & Glory so of course it smells nice! Available at Boots

3) Yankee Candle (Small) £8.39 - Everyone loves Yankee candle right? I have a few others but for around Christmas I've been loving 'Christmas Cookie'. It smells soooooo good. I usually go for the fresher fragrances but this one is amazing. I have this in small, but tempted to get a bigger one! It's priced at £8.39 on the Yankee website, but I got mine for a few pounds cheaper in the sale at House of Fraser.

4) Topshop Lipstick (Beguiled) £8.00 - I used to always go for lighter lipsticks as I was too scared to try out a darker one, but a few months ago I thought why not! I am so glad that I did because this colour is amazing! I wear it more than I've ever worn another other lipstick. The colour is gorgeous, it's a dark wine colour and it instantly makes me feel like I am a bit more dressed up when I wear it! Bought at Topshop.

5) MUA Undress Me Too Palette £4.00 - I've heard bloggers say how MUA Undress Me Too is a dupe for Naked 2 and as much as I would love to have Naked 2 it is £37.00! So for the much more reasonable £4.00 this is a winner. The colours are neutral and they can be used to achieve a day and night look. They're mostly shimmer colours and I would have liked there to have been some more matte colours but for £4.00 I can deal with that. I bought mine at Superdrug.

6) Loreal Demaq Eye Absolute Make-up Remover £5.49 - My eyes are sensitive when it comes to eye makeup remover and it took me a while to found one that I was completely happy with. However I have been using this one for a few years now and will probably never change to a different one. It easily takes off my makeup without having to use loads. It can be a little greasy if you don't shake it properly. The Demaq one is more expensive than the normal one  (£3.49) on its own, but I've never had to pay full price for it as it is on offer all the time for 2 for £5 for both the normal makeup remover and the Demaq so if you buy it when it's on offer it's the same price! I usually get mine from Superdrug or Boots depending where it is on offer!

7) Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum 50ml £65.00 - I used to work on the fragrance department at House of Fraser so I had a lot of time to test all of the fragrances on offer. My favourite one was Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and I still love it. I bought this about a year and a half ago and it's lasted my quite a while because I use it as my nights out/special occasion perfume. I am yet to find a perfume I love as much as this one. I bought mine from House of Fraser
